Monster Sanctuary
A downloadable game for Windows
In every world where monsters live, monsters are exploited. They are made to be pawns in battles, resources in empires, symbols in humans. Every time a monster suffers in those worlds, another tile is added Outside.
Every time one of those worlds die, then monsters come Outside, and find a world they can live and thrive in. They can connect and heal. They can be living mysteries to themselves.
And with the monsters, the Outside heals too.
Each Monster is a Living Puzzle. Its needs and trauma are almost inscrutable. You have to figure them out in order to nurture the Monster and its World. Each Monster has a unique, procedurally generated past. You can interact with each Monster through the buttons on the bottom right but be careful, they are not available all the time.
The Monsters have a limited time here and how they deal with trauma and needs will affect that amount of time. Eventually, every Monster will die. What matters is how well they can live their lives first. You will have to figure out their needs and how to cover them in order for them to live their best life.
By covering the monster's needs you get a chance to heal it from past trauma.
Use WASD for moving the camera around and the mousewheel to zoom in/out.
Use the arrows to cycle through all the monsters.
You can see the monster's avatar and its symbols of past trauma underneath it.
Monster and icon art from the opensourced Duelyst game.
Pixel-art hex-tiles and space background from Deep-Fold's Space Background Generator
Please keep in mind that this is a prototype and if it gets enough love it might grow into something bigger.

how this game are connected to Queer Communism?
Working class queers are repressed by capitalism and patriarchy. We are put in the front lines so that all who benefit from these systems can profit from our suffering.
Games are often set in manichaeistic, colonial, imperialist, capitalist, christian fantasy worlds where "normative" humans use other creatures to fight their battles or even worse, turn them into resources. This game was born out of the reimagining of such worlds where all the monsters that are normally portrayed as worthless, deviant or even violent, retreat to a space where they are cared for.
PS: I chose to take this question and respond to it as if it was asked in good faith. I don't mind if you can't see the connection. I don't mind if noone can see the connection. But there is far too much queer gatekeeping and when we don't know who is on the other end of our keyboard it might be useful to explain why we ask certain things.
